Park should be gated, communities pay to access all over the city, why is just anyone allowed

WE want gated parks with secure locks only access by using our McKenzie Towne cards that are issued at the Towne office. Put in washrooms and start looking after our parks. Our fees were raised again another 7.00 a year for what Nothing. This community association does nothing...look at the park by Prestwick Circle with the saucer swing...look at the grass...its terrible. Definetely neglected. If you bring up that the trees are not watered and are dying they tell you to go the city...Why isn't this association going after the city...they are supposed to be looking after the neighborhood no. Maybe with this recession we should fire some of these people that are getting benefits when so many McKenzie Towne residents are not.

Yes yes yes we have lived here for 7 years now and have can't agree more! We would also like to see some bathrooms put in as well!

Exactly, if we pay for it, then it should be only for McKenzie Towne residents. Gated is the way to go. The fees are very high, they should be used for other things . Our trees are dying( look at the ones on the divider when you come in from Deerfoot-a disgrace, more than half of them are dead. Also , the ones from Promenade Way . When are they going to replace those? Also, maybe they should plant more flowers, especially perennials, winters are long but when spring is here, a little more colour would be nice.. This year flowers by the big sign ( next to the roundabout) were planted Sooo late!!! If we would have perennials planted, the expenses would be lower, as they do not need replanting every year, just a little TLC.

You don't pay for this park the city does. It's not your fees that are paying for these upgrades the city is! This petition is misleading although I get the frustration in having high community fees without a private park, this park however is not the residents park it's the city's park.

i actually don't use the park as I don't have kids. I think it's more important to have speed bumps on the roads...
HOWEVER, I think it's a good idea to keep it a McT thing so I'm signing this.

Totally agree!! It's very rare that I actually take my children there as the last couple times I've went I've seen
-kids literally peeing in fountain
-broken glass all over
-Dog feces on the grass area
-kids riding their bikes through the fountain nearly knocking little one over
I think having a gated water park so OUR community only has access to it would be route to go. I think we are the only community that shares the park with all of Calgary it is literally on the city of Calgarys website as splash parks open to the public!
We would even be willing to pay extra fees for the year of that means we can enjoy the park as a community and not have every Tom Dick and Harry there taking advantage of something that WE pay for!

I agree to this. I also ask the question on what is the community fee for when we don't have any other attraction. The water fountain needs to be upgraded and maybe put some extra water features that the kids in our community would really enjoy playing, just like the one in new Brighton for example.

I have always said how I thought it was unfair anybody could go to the fountain. Make it only for people who pay fees. Mckenzie lake only pays 40 bucks more than us.

If this is unfenced its just going to cause homeless people to use the washrooms to sleep in and the water park to bath..

We need this water fountain park gated! Especially if it's being renovated and public washrooms being added. We don't need homeless people calling Prestwick & Mckenzie Towne home!
