My son is an eloper too. We did a very similar thing, fence in an area of our front yard with play items. Raven's yard is beautiful! Ours is not as nice by any means. This fence needs to be seen as a medical device to keep a child safe.

This fence is a reasonable accommodation for a little girl with a disability- to keep her safe from eloping. The fence is professionally built and is on the property of the homeowners. The community needs to be reasonable and responsible in how they deal with their most vulnerable citizens.

Please consider making an exception to the zoning laws in light of the fact that this fence was installed for the safety of a disabled child. These parents are only trying to be responsible and keep their child from harm.

The Shindle family is absolutely right to protect this special needs Chile as well as their other little ones. Having seen the fence, that is well built, I thought it was in good taste especially to improve their safety. These children are our great grandchildren and we want them to enjoy being children in a safe environment.

My 7 year old is autistic and at times elopes to the front yard and down the street. It scares the living daylights out of me when she does this. A fence is necessary to keep this child safe!

I am a mama of an autistic child. He is a runner and at constant risk of elopment which has already happened. He could have been hit by a car and he DID nearly drown. Please let these parents protect their child. You have no idea unless you live the same day to say life.

I dont see the problem with the fence. But I do have a problem with the city, getting mad because the owners question the validity and suddenly their well documented business is suddenly an issue. Come on tit for tat
