The university council has formally rescinded the proposed tuition hikes. We will now monitor the implementation phase to ensure these funds are reallocated as promised.
The growth of this movement has moved our primary focus toward drafting a formal request for a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education. We are now finalizing the legal brief that will accompany the delivery of these signatures to the board next week.

This is for my family after me who will be going to university in the years to come!! My parents struggled to send me to Tuks, but i don't want them to struggle so much that it will not even be an option for my younger brother!

education is the key to a better life for all.If we deprive those who can't afford education of education, we are simply generating wealth in the hands of the already financially free people

Fully support the non-violent protests. Not supporting the violent actions taking place or the fact that students are stopped from entering or writing their exams by other students.

As a privileged citizen that finished a degree through a private university, what students are subjected to in normal universities, with all the fees, stress and debt. It sounds like an absolute hell that I would never wish on anyone.
There is no good person in this world who can disagree with this movement.

I am in so much debt due to insanely high fees, this government needs to reconsider the state of the nation. Your children are crying out. We all want a well established nation at the end of the day, but how can that happen if such a large percentage of the population can not afford education ?

Fees need to fall, and government needs to work with the student body to find solutions so as to make fees affordable for everyone. Education is the greatest gift anyone can recieve and this gift should not be limited to the priveleged, it is an infallible human right.
