Tried to sign but "oops something went wrong" - I will try again later - here is the note I wanted to add: "As our national broadcaster, the CBC has a duty to reach *all* Canadians, regardless of their financial circumstances. Talent isn't just for those with the money to play!"

What comes around that is not fair allows no benefits to the talented artists who are out there and cannot afford what should be available to all. I have also been surprised that I made a movie called My Fishy Friends over a ten year period. It won over 100 awards at International Film Festivals. Because I had no funding I was hoping to sell it to the CBC for broadcasting but they said. What more can an artist do? When even at home with a world wide winning project you have to bite the bullet and make no money for your creative work. Oh my!!!

An honesty-based fee waiver option would be easy to do and would make things easier. Those fees are unnecessary in the grand scheme of things and could limit great entries

$25. Is too much for many people. Perhaps ask for a donation. Some will give more. Some less.

This is an excellent initiative. It certainly can't deprive the CBC of much income to allow a waiver for impoverished writers, so the waiver would do a lot of good for little cost.

I’d rather the fee waived than someone skipping a meal.

The fee waiver is crucial to supporting diversity in the most meaningful way — by removing a financial obstacle!

Yes, it gets very expensive to participate in these competitions, it should be free so everyone who want to can participate.
I never win contests because i never enter them.
