Federal employees are traditionally given paid leave for Columbus Day, the second Monday in October. More and more people have been questioning why we are celebrating a holiday that wreaked such havoc on the indigenous people living in the United States.

Let's stop having paid leave on a holiday that has less and less relevance and switch to have paid leave on the day after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving may have it's own controversial beginnings, but has current relevance as a holiday that celebrates family, friends, and being grateful.
