This salary is really hard for graduate students to survive in Boca Raton. The school should consider this issue and provide more help for current students.

I don't feel that I'm getting my money's worth at FAU. For what I'm paying, the education I receive is extremely poor, and my career prospects are not improving. The school needs to make quality education a priority, and paying instructors fairly is the first step.

Number 8 isn't necessary. I'd rather see livable wages met before I see extraneous activities such as traveling for conferences met.

I am a Master's thesis student in biology in my third year. I have worked as a teaching assistant for six semesters and a research assistant for one. In addition, I work two jobs outside of school to pay my living expenses. My typical work week is 60-70 hours (including all three jobs, classes, and research). Please pay graduate students a more reasonable salary for their hard work and dedication to teaching labs so we can quit one of our extra jobs and still afford to live.

Most graduate students are required to invest 60+ hrs a week between their research and TA responsibilities and yet the pay is the same (not including the work we do from home at night). I cannot live close to campus because it is too expensive, but spend about $600 a year in tolls (let's not mention gas!) so that I can be there on time (8am) in the mornings and get home around 7 pm at night. On top of that no health insurance! We need a change!
