Once a fathers paternity is established they should have equal rights to the child. Custody should be 50/50 unless determined otherwise be a judge due to circumstances that would not be in the best interest of the child. As it stands now in the state of Minnesota a father has 0% custody rights to a child unless it goes to court. Too many mothers are taking advantage of this and using children as a pawn in the games they are playing. If it makes a difference I am a single mom and I am watching this as a mother shaking my head at these woman so lets get these kids the opportunity to have a father who is there and wants to be there. It is to easy to call a man a deadbeat when he really wants to step up and be there but the moms are just making it impossible.
