The current obesity rate in the United States is 35.7%. If the Minnesota government were to implement a tax on foods with high fat content, it would benefit society by decreasing consumption and production of foods with high fat content. This decrease in consumption and production would lower the obesity rate and the average BMI. The tax would also generate revenue that could be used to campaign for healthier lifestyles and to subsidize healthier foods, making fruits and vegetables cheaper.

The Minnesota government keeps ignoring the health crisis while junk food companies line their pockets. This momentum proves that people are finally done with these greedy corporate interests. We are just getting started.

HEALTH CARE COSTS ARE OUT OF CONTROL. If this helps stop the obesity trend then lets do it. People need a push to make better choices.

Finally. Its getting way to expensive to eat healthy and junk food is dirt cheap everywhere you look. Maybe this will help people actually afford a salad.
