We believe that agricultural land needs to be preserved and that it makes no sense to convert productive land to golf courses for the sole purpose of profit and future real estate development. Kaneff, the developer, has been able to pusuade The Town of Caledon and the Region of Peel to redesignate the Lands in order to permit the current application for an 18 hole Golf Course with Tourist and "Guest House" Accomadation at Hwy 10and Olde Base Line in Caledon. If approved, not only will 300+ acres of prime agricultural land be lost to future generations, but up to 2.5 million gallons of water a week will be drawn from the Caledon aquifer. Not only will vast amounts of water be consumed but pesticide and sewage seepage endangers the purity of the water below.By signing this petition, we are telling Council to follow the Town's and Provincial Policy Statement to preserve Prime Agricultural Lands and Vote "No" to the Kaneff proposal.
