Please, please consider this. As a long-time south-side resident and home owner, we need a place where we can take our dogs to play, especially as this diverse area has a lot of housing with no or very small yards.

The off leash hours should be 5pm-7am.

7pm to 7am sounds very reasonable for the school year and I'd like to see it available more often when school is out of session.

Possibly consider different hours for weekends &/or holidays? Enforce strict fines for usage during school hours.

Great idea. And more restaurants with patios should allow dogs.

I live in rural area, but those in town need space for their 4 legged kids.

There’s an empty field on Florida Rd. at East Animas and one in Ryler Park as well. Let dogs play!

So many of neighbors have dogs with no yards to run them around in (classic Durango dilemma!). How wonderful it would be to have a central place for our pups to run around and socialize without having to drive to the dog park off Hwy 160 - even if it's only for a few hours a day!

Being a resident of the south side of Durango, I 100% support this petition. Outside of school hours and post-school associated activities, it is completely reasonable for the park to be utilized as a recreational area for dogs. Owners, as stated, shall be responsible for their dogs and any issues associated with them. This can be accomplished through signage and general community enforcement. Moreover, individuals already use the space to exercise their dogs and the enforcement by the Animal Control Division is an extra burden that provides nominal correction. Support for this petition by the City Council is founded, reasonable, and a continued extension of Durango pursuing the most optimal outdoor recreation available.
Let the dogs be free!
