I have lived in Hertford town centre for 8 years now. I have experienced the exact same issue with local resident parking.
I've received many a ticket over the years for parking on the odd yellow line. I have paid a fortune in parking fines. I was given a ticket for parking overnight in the bay outside the grapevine recently. I was the only vehicle in the bay and the ticket was issued at 8.38 am. Fair enough if the bay was full or it had actually gone past 9am in the morning. The wardens know my vehicle. This happens to me all the time, I feel totally harassed. Either provide parking for town residents or use a level of discretion and flexibility. Not introduce night parking fees, the parking has already killed the town!! Council tax has just been increased!! I cant park, I cant get into Hertford during rush hour, I cant get out of Hertford in the morning to get to work due to congestion, hence parking outside the grapevine. When I get home on a Thursday or Friday I drive around for an hour trying to park lawfully!
Don't even get me started on no where to put my rubbish!!
This is all rubbish for Hertford town residents.
Please provide us with parking in the town centre, save our town.

Dont forget that £1,400 doesn't guarantee you a parking space either! If the carpark is full you've wasted £1.4k!

Thanks so much to everyone who has signed so far. Your comments are really helpful too so keep them coming! I'll be sure to pass them on to the council and the local paper. I've started distributing paper petitions in Hertford too so hopefully we should get a few more signatures that way.
