Your signature on this electronic petition is being sought in support of the Waterloo Commission on Human Right\'s recommendation to the Mayor and City Council of Waterloo to amend the cities human rights ordinance. The Cedar Valley Fairness Alliance came together to supports the Commission on Human Rights efforts to amend Waterloos ordinance. Our objective is to ensure that civil rights are protected for everyone in Waterloo. The Mayor and City Council has had this proposal before them for a year and has not taken action on it, despite being asked by the Commission on Human Rights to do so. Mayor,Tim Hurley and Council persons Carolyn Cole, John Kincaid and Reggie Schmitt have indicated their support while council persons Bob Greenwood, Eric Gunderson,Harold Getty and Ron Welper have indicated \"no\" votes. Bob Gunderson has indicated he is open to discussion on the issue before making a final decision on his vote. We have collected over 600 signatures on paper petitions and have given them to the city council. We intend to forward these electronic signatures to the city council as we collect them to show continued support for open debate on the ordinance change. We also urge supporters to contact the city council members and the Mayor and urge them to put this item on the agenda and vote yes. The text of the petitions states: We the undersigned citizens of Waterloo support the Waterloo Commission on Human Right

The Cedar Valley Fairness Alliance is a group of fair minded persons, gay and straight alike, who have come together to work for equality for everyone who lives in the Cedar Valley. We are currently working in support of bringing sexual orientation under the protection of the ordinance in the areas of discrimination in employment, housing, education, credit and public accomodation in Waterloo. The Cedar Valley Fairness Alliance will continue to work on this issue as well as against other forms of discrimination in our community as we firmly believe that \"what you permit you promote.\" If you would like to join us in our efforts, contact Fairness@mschsi.com.
