HI RC So do you think builders were consulted or not? I am not sure it is such an idiotic claim Mattamy said there buyers were 'sophisticated' what is your opinion on Mattamy's claim?

Agree - can someone please share what response they received from Mattamy. I am sure the builder doesn't prefer to go through lawsuits, etc. For the benefit of others, someone please share your experience dealing with Mattamy lawyers and customer service.

When you make uneducated comments like "I wonder if the Liberal government consulted some of these builders and they had inside information?", it is hard to feel sympathy for you. Yes builders lobby governments, ALL governments, but this is an idiotic claim.

Can this group please update what has happened to date? Should we organize a group to go to the new government to compensate people in this specific situation since the builders don't seem to care at all! No one should buy from builders until they do something for the buyer finally! They cashed in high, I wonder if the Liberal government consulted some of these builders and they had inside information?

Don't be so stupid to say this. House purchase is a huge amount. not comparable with your purchase. You think you are humorous? The hell with you.

My NAME is Jaya. We bought the Mattamy prebuilt home before teh rate hike in 2017 and the home price dropped down 20%. Now the same house with all the upgrades and the finished basement goes for 1.75m and ours booked with the base price as 1.87 with all the upgrades it costs more than 2.1m. Atleast the builder can give us some bonus offer for the upgrades based on the deposit to adjust the loss

There is no right or wrong just need a fair solution as the result is not controllable by buyer.

We are trapped in a deal with Brookfield homes where the house we put a deposit on is not worth what we are supposed to mortgage it for. The liberal provincial government is to blame for their knee jerk strategy to try to cool a housing market that did not need to be touched.

I think greed and stupidity will eventually be punished. The home buyers overextended themselves just out of greed . They know what their financial situation is but still went ahead and purchased homes beyond what they can afford just because they thought housing market can never go down. IF they are in a sound financial condition of being able to afford a million dollar home, they should be able to take a 35% or 45% drop in prices.
