We, the students of Quest University, present this petition in order to request that Dana Hospitality:
- Formally prioritize the hiring of existing employees of Black-Katz Catering, instead of seeking first to bring in new employees.
- Reach out to existing employees with job offers and information no later than April 17, 2017 — two weeks before the formal ending of the contract between Black-Katz Catering and Quest University.
- Before the hiring process, make public to potential employees and the student body the contract proposed by Dana Hospitality. These include all procedural and contractual changes, such as wages, working hours, benefits, food service practices, sourcing of ingredients and work environment.
We ask that Dana Hospitality follow these requests and ensure job security for current Black-Katz employees. No formal communication has been made between Dana Hospitality, Black-Katz, or the Quest public. As such we believe it is Dana Hospitality’s responsibility to formally agree to this act of good-faith, and good institutional partnership.
The employees of the cafeteria and café are integral members of our community, and many have developed close relationships with Quest students and faculty over the past several years. We believe that it is in the interest of the student body, Black-Katz employees, and Dana Hospitality to ensure that these relationships continue.Updates

Seeing this kind of movement confirms how much these staff members mean to all of us who eat here every day. Watching the community rally so quickly for the people who look after us keeps me going.

Love the caf team so much. Especially Maria at the register, she always remembers my order. Keep them here!
The caf staff are all incredibly sweet, caring, and have such amazing connection to students. So many of them have become small reasons why my days are so lovely, and small pick-me-ups when I've needed them. They deserve the security and our support since they give us so much, continuously.
Jen makes my day every time I see her. And all of the cashiers are so nice to us :)
The people serving our food are basically family at this point. Getting rid of them would totally change the vibe of the place.
They add so much to our community
The caf peeps are dope and I want them back!
