Fair Housing Prices

Those high prices are hurting the economy. High gas prices and war is part of the problem they economy is in such bad shape.

I whole heartedly believe the dorm prices are unproportional for the space, quality, and upkeep of the dorms. Not to mention how rediculous it is they SCAD cuts A THIRD of your scholarships for moving off campus, and even then, off campus housing is cheaper. Paula, if you are listening, take a break from being the highest paid college President and take a closer look at what you are offering. Sincerely, every SCAD kid ever.

SCAD is expensive

I had to move off campus because I can't afford it. Not to mention I get more bang for my buck living off campus. I get a kitchen my own room and bathroom and I only pay a little under half of what I paid to stay in the dorms. I would've liked to stay on campus but I just couldn't.

This is definitely a problem at SCAD. If you go to other colleges, students want to stay on campus because they are kept up and are generally cheaper than living off campus would be. SCAD's dorms aren't kept up very well and are significantly more expensive than living off campus. This is why such a large majority of students move off campus their after freshman year. It shouldn't have to be like that.

I agree mostly because of the scholarship loss issue. They have tied so much of my scholarship money into living on campus that I can't actually afford not to, which while part of the college experience should not be tied into it so much. I am now stuck going to Oglethorpe house next year, which is actually smaller than many of the freshman dorms simply because I am trapped on campus and will only be a sophomore so I can't get into the better dorms.

I completely agree!! SCAD is gipping a lot of its student of a "safe" college dorm experience. The houses should not be this expensive for the condition they are in.

I filed many maintenance requests for issues I didn't cause and only one of those was actually fixed. I was paying too much for housing for that to be the case...

We pay more than what we get.

Poor housing conditions freshman year forced me to live off campus, where I'm paying less for an entire year in excellent conditions than I did for nine months of a glorified storage unit. You do the math.

I would have to agree that housing is a bit over priced. I understand new forms are being built and they may be nice but not everyone is going to get into that new building and with the disrepair of the older buildings I think a price raise will move even more kids off campus like I did the first year.

Not all of us are rich

I support this petition. While I also understand Scad has a lot of costs of its own, there comes a point where the cost doesn't fit the quality. I was forced to move off campus after the first year due to cost, which is not SCAD's fault at all! However, my house off campus costs less and is far nicer than the dorms, and that's where I become slightly frustrated with dorm costs.

Where is all the money going? The resident halls are trash. They resemble a cheap motel.
