I write anonymously since I am a priest of the Archdiocese of Toronto. What has been done by the Archdiocese is diabolical. The priesthood does not belong to Cardinal Collins. It is the priesthood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May He have mercy on all of our souls.

Cardinal Thomas Collins.....you made a huge mistake when you suspended our good and faithful priest Fr. John Duffy.....now be a true Deciple of Christ and admit it. Please correct this error soon so we at Sacred Heart Parish can heal and move on.

This is indeed a very sad, sad, state of affairs both for Fr. John and the Archdiocese of Toronto. From all I hear and read about Fr. John, he is a priest who is true to his calling and has touched the hearts and souls of many. The Archdiocese's refusal to bring the truth to light of Fr. John's plight just makes people wonder and question their faith in our church leaders.

It is appalling and disgusting to know what goes on behind the closed doors of those who run our Church. It seems like many Judas-like characters are making decisions that are self serving and not in acoordance to Christ's teachings! Shame on you!!

I love priests and bishops especially those I see so holy, we live by their examples of holiness. Let us all pray to end the crisis in our church. Let us not give in to the suggestions of the evil one.

Father Duffy served at St. Boniface Parish. I taught at one of the Parish Schools. He ws always willing to assist us in the development of catholism. The Church preaches compassion and so why is it when the Clergy needs assistance the archdiocese turns their back.

Mr. O'Conner speaks in the first person plural when he refers to the Archdiocese. He also has the poor spelling and bad theology of someone educated at St. Augustine's Seminary who did not do anything but swallow the theological swill they fed the seminarians in the 1980's and 1990's.
Mr. O'Conner, are you speaking for the Archdiocese in this matter? Are you involved in this unholy mess, perpetrated by the morally and spiritually bankrupt individuals who lead this Archdiocese? If you presume to speak for the hierarchy, then tell us your name. If not, then post your comments on the issue at hand and do not try to lead this combox down a rabbit hole by pretending to be speaking with authority. I speak for no one but myself, and so owe no one my name. You on the other hand, should put up your full name, unless you're hiding behind anonymity since the authority of your statement relies on some official position you seem to hold.
Actually, a refusal to identify yourself would lead me to believe you ARE a chancery official or even the Archbishop himself, since that is how those cowards operate. They are not men of God – they are wolves in shepherd’s clothing.

The news weeks ago saddened our family tremendously. The support from present and past parishioners that Fr. John Duffy has impacted is astounding. We can't understand why the Archdiocese has not responded to people who Fr. John has guided throughout his years. We support you and pray for you. God Bless you!

Fr Duffy is an awesome priest and our family friend. I don't know what the story is, but the only thing he could be accused of is being a Faithful, Faith-filled Catholic priest, praying for an end to abortion and fighting the ridiculous changes in sex ed in our schools. Shame on whoever made allegations in the first place and our Diocese... for persecuting this awesome priest.

I have known Fr Duffy since I was 16 when he served at St Thomas More parish. He was great with the youth and always helped us with parish activities and supported us in all our endeavours. Fr Duffy we will keep you in our prayers for a successful resolution.
