A failure of democracy and fundamental freedoms on the Australian left: Open letter

Bit late to support. Linda Gale and Anna did nothing but speak for Greens women and womens' interests across the board.

Disgraceful. Demented support for the eradication of women as a class trumps all other Green concerns. History will judge harshly.

Appalling move from the Greens. Anna and Linda are both long standing advocates of women's rights with a history of public service in legal work for unions and women's rights organisations. Both are a a credit to the Greens. Shame on the Greens for adopting this exclusionary and punitive approach .

Just cannot support a party that treats women (and debate) so poorly.

Same mind-boggling misinterpretation of women's rights

A Party which calls for legislative protection for whistle blowers & then accords the usual group-think social media abuse to internal whistle blowers in violation of its own By-Laws mandating democratic debate is dysfunctional & incredible.

In every aspect of human relationships, we are encouraged to communicate. Where is the discussion on the issue of transgender women's rights vs those of cisgender women? Did I miss it? This issue is new. Feminism has been an issue for hundreds of years and women are STIll fighting for their rights. Dialogue is the only way all groups can put forward their views and, hopefully, reach a solution that doesn't give rights to one group while stamping out the rights of the other.

A mature open and inclusive society cannot be a society that is gagged

Appalling lack of democracy and care for women’s rights shown by the Greens on this issue.

I'm a Green in the States, and we've had similar issues. When so many -- most polls say 70-80% -- don't want people born male in women's sports, we need dialogue not expulsion.

Mindlessly following what is currently popular is not good decision-making. This issue is far more complex than most people realise.

Here in the United States our rights just got erased as a result of the overturn of Roe v Wade....disgusting and depressing. Erasing women from speaking out for women's rights in this instance is equally disgusting and depressing.

When did the Greens become so homophobic? Disgusting.

Sex-based realities and rights matter. Discussion cannot and will not be silenced. Misogynistic.

How can anyone vote for the greens when they expel their own members for speaking their minds? What kind of party enforces such inane censorship with such undemocratic actions? I will never vote for a party that expels members for only expressing informed opinions.

Censorship is for tyrants and dictators. Are you those?

Saying that "only women get pregnant and give birth is hate speech?" This is insanity!

Shame on you, Australian Greens. I hope you lose a lot of votes.

Being a Woman isn't "transphobic" . Women are real, and deserve their own language, rights, protections, politicians, parties - and some f@#$ing respect.

This is blatant sex discrimination. Punishing women for being women and supporting women.
