Decades ago, AFA attorneys properly educated Alaska Airlines and their flight attendants that the FAA regulations for a "duty period" apply to a reserve flight attendant on call. All flight attendants "on call" ARE "on duty", PERIOD. We, the flight attendants signing this petition, ask for the FAA duty period protections to apply to all United flight attendants. NO MORE READY RESERVE for 24 hours, 6 days a week!

Absolutely! I was once on call from midnight to 14:30, assigned 18:30 airport standby then given a red eye San Juan turn out of Chicago. There is no way to predict when to sleep.
"On call" is "on duty". To be on call 24. Hrs without flying is as exhausting as flying an assignment. To be on call overnight for availability for any flights after midnight is fatiguing, as one cannot sleep while waiting to be called out at a moment's notice!
It is not safe to be on call 24 hours a day am/pm is better. I was once called at 10pm for a 0419 checkin. I could not sleep therefore I ended up going to work with more than 24 hours without sleep. Not safe.
At the minimum there should be 2-3 overlapping shifts over a 24 hour period, so people can know when to sleep. Each block of duty days should have the same call out window for their bodies to be able to maintain some form of stability
Working a 24 on call day after day, years and years is inhumane, creating unnecessary stress and fatigue on workers. The pilots don't have it for a reason, why are flight attendants not included with them.
In accordance with health and sleep studies it is only obvious how being on call for a 24hour period extending into also 6days is setting us up for failure-illness-unsafe focus and risking life threatening mistakes. Stop the madness Please

24 hours on call, up to 6 days in a row is inhumane. If a flight attendant's duty day is 15 hours, for example, then the Reserve should.only have to be on call for up to 15 hours. And any assignment given (domestically) would have to end at that 15th hour.
