Eyes on Cornwall
The Town of Cornwall and Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson are continuously facing the issue of illegal dumping and trash pollution, and a change needs to be made.
Between October and November of 2025 alone, the Cornwall Cleanup Crew, a non-profit organization created in 2023, weighed and removed over 3000 pounds of garbage and dumped items from the roadsides. Although the work the crew does is immensely beneficial, it is an incessant cycle and the perpetrators are not faced with consequences. Volunteers return to the same location multiple times throughout the year and encounter additional dumped trash.
We are asking the town and village to fund and deploy mobile, solar powered security cameras at known illegal dumping hot spots to support enforcement and fines.
This solution may appear costly as security cameras are expensive, yet it is a long-term investment that will benefit all Cornwall residents. Unless we unite as a community, our area will continue to be illegally littered with trash, ruining the beauty of our home.
