Hi Trailmark neighbors. I am posting about this again in hope of your support. We installed a new exterior front door (as pictures) that has a window in the door. The HOA has indicated it is not allowed and is prohibited by DRC guidelines (which we are in disagreement with the DRC over that interpretation).
There are a good handful of others in the neighborhood that have a similar type of door (anything that has a window in it actually regardless of size. Storm doors are excluded from this rule). They are also in violation of this policy and the HOA has the ability to fine us if we refuse to comply.
Here is my ask, this Thursday, September 12 is our formal hearing with the HOA Board to present evidence and community wishes (where you all come in) to ask for the decision to be overturned and allow us as a community to have these type of doors.
I am asking if you can, to come to the hearing. It will be before the HOA board meeting. My guess is around 6 or 6:30 pm. if you cannot make it, please sign the petition in support of having these types of doors as choices for your home.

We support this door and others with windows. Make changes to the DRC to reflect greater flexibility of door choices. This is truly ridiculous to cause any homeowner in this neighborhood to have to even have this conversation with the HOA!! -Cindy and Dale CHristensen
No issues with this door. Already lots in the neighborhood. Double standard to deny it at this point.
This is a single family home and should NOT fall under HOA’s DRC approval. Perhaps if this were a condo .... maybe. Certainly not for a home.
The door is beautiful and should be approved. The homes are nearly twenty years old and the covenants should be updated.
There is nothing wrong with the door. I’ve always wanted one like it to allow natural light in. The front of our house is very dark. There are more important things for the HOA to spend time on.
Change the policy and let the door stay. Please.

I know this house as it is close to mine. Though I was surprised to see this sort of door in our community, I think it looks nice and agree there are several others in the community that have windows in some fashion. I think this is fine and adds a personal touch to our otherwise cookie cutter community.
