They are not showing any signs of greater learning in Indiana with an 8 week summer. Give the kids their summer back.

We need a longer summer vacation, for all schools in the America, especially in California, Los Angeles, where I currently attend high school at. Summer vacation is just getting shorter and shorter as the years pass by. I'm currently a sophomore, a soon to be junior as of today, June 12, 2017. My summer break is literally as short as two months, from June 14 to August 14, that is ridiculous and selfish of my school, maybe even all schools to make such small time available for student freedom, stress-freedom, and free time overall. My school year was as long as 10 months, from August 15 to June 14, 10 freaking months! And to make up for it, we only get a 2 month sumer vacation period? What the hell? Pardon my French, but that is just damn wrong and outrageous! School boards and districts need to allow for longer summer vacations especially for high schools! Us high school students not only need time away from rigorous class schedules, but also need time for significant things such as our driver's test week, jobs, internships, summer-programs, and just relaxation in general! I believe we deserve to have 3 to 4 months of summer vacations, maybe 2 and a half at most, but anything under 2 months... that's selfish of the school district.
