Inmates should have the opportunity to earn extended family visits with their loved ones. Extended family visits would be different from regular supervised visits. Extended family visits will allow inmates to spend unsupervised time with their families allowing them to maintain and strengthen the family bond while the loved one is incarcerated. For an inmate family is the main source of support and the prison system is not designed to maintain family bonds. Extended family visits would allow inmates the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones, doing normal family activities. This would be an incentive for them to maintain good behavior so they can have these visits.
