In hopes of having our Community Pools/Splash Pad hours extended at least 8pm, I am starting this petition which will be submitted at the next City Council meeting on 6/26/18.
This action is being taken due to the extreme temperatures that our area sustains until well into the night, as well as to allow those families with working Parents/Guarians the opportunity to partake in summer fun that the current hours Do Not Make Possible.
According to WeatherSpark.com and other reputable sources Lawton, OK has temperatures that are comparable to Afghanistan, and other regions of the world know for extreme heat.
Children should not be subjected to such extreme day temperatures, and do to health reasons both some adults and our youth are Unable to spend extended amounts of time in the sun, so daily many are faced with the decision to face the elements and suffer later, or our children must suffer as a result of our medical conditions.
This is a community effort, so please show your support by signing, sharing, and showing up to support this petition.
This is an effort to make our community better...and healthy, active children lead to a better future for us all.
Thank you,
A Fellow Lawton Resident
As a working single mom it’s impossible to take my son to the splash pad during the week. If the time was extended even 2 hours it would make a huge difference to those of us who still wanna do something fun with our babies during the week!

I would love for the hours to be pushed back 3 hours so the option to avoid the heat of the day is available. Not everyone can medically be outside at peak sun hours.
