I think this is a great idea. There has been plenty of times my daughter comes home hungry and cranky because she wasn't able to finish her lunch

I agree completely my daughter started school last year at Tenniswoood, she came home daily starving because she did not have time to finish her lunch. How are kids supposed to do there best when they are hungry.

In my opinion these kids need and deserve more time to eat. My son has struggled the past 2 years trying to scarf his food down or sneaking food back into his backpack to take home because he doesn't want to waste food.

I think more recess time is crucial to helping our children become more successful in school.

As a noon-aide I witnessed so many elementary children not having time to eat, buy the time they had the items in their lunch opened or found a seat after standing in line for hot lunch, their time was up. In the winter when they come to lunch all dressed to go outside is even worse. They are hot and spend more time with the costs, gloves and snow pants than eating. They really do need more time especially in elementary. Who had a kindergartener who eats in 15 mins at home for meals, definitely not me!!

My sons school has “30” minute break... however they only get 15 minutes of that time to eat the other 15 is for recess

My son goes to tenniswood elementary and I agree that the lunche periods are much too short. I have participated in the watchdog program and have been at lunch with my son. I barely had enough time to eat. I understand that some of the kids will talk and play and still have to rush but the 15 minutes they get is far too short.

I agree! My daughter has come home so hungry many times telling me she never got to finish her lunch in school because they were rushing her to finish.

As a parent and someone who works in a public school I feel that the kids do not get nearly enough time for lunch and recess.

I believe that 15 minutes for lunch is absolutely insane. My son has told me on numerous occasions that by the time he stands in line to get his food and sits down to eat, he doesn't have time to finish eating. This is not acceptable to me. Thank you!

Yes. Get the kids out of the classroom and let them stretch those legs and invigorate them out of the stupor constant book and classwork creates. Their young minds can't handle being cooped up in the class for hours on end.

I have been a lunch aide for a few years and now work in food service! I totally agree that the kids need a little more time at lunch time! By the time the last child get through the line some days there is only a few minutes for that child to eat depending on what being served and how long it takes to get through the line! They need more time than 30 min a day!

Plethora of research on exercise and cognition. It’s a proven fact grades will improve with cardiovascular exercise.

My kids have maybe 15 minutes to eat, less if they get hot lunch. One scarfs his food the other doesn’t finish, neither is healthy eating.
