  • I have grown up being taught to fight for what I believe in. I have attended Flour Bluff ISD since 1st grade. I believe that in order to find out who I am and express myself properly, I should be able to wear clothing that I represents me as an individual. I'm not trying to disrespect any of the members of the board in any way, I would just like to be myself. Of course I wouldn't want the dress code to be abolished completely, I just want to be able to express myself through what I wear. Especially entering our teenage years, we are trying to find out who we are. If we grow up having to wear certain clothing, how are we going to 'be ourselves' as we are taught in many of our classes? Don't get me wrong, the spirit shirts are great. I would just like the dress code to be a little bit more lenient. I read a quote once, "The process of leniency involves accepting the reality of the current situation and finding a satisfying meaning therein, as opposed to misconstruing or denying the facts of the situation." The reality of this situation is: we are not a private school, we should be able to express ourselves, and the world around us is changing, do you really want this school to be the only thing NOT changing?
