Bring back the trickle down process it makes stronger teams

CMHA arbitrarily changed the process without due consultation with the CRHA and counter to the constitution of the Association. This is an embarrassment as the CMHA took this upon themselves absent any consultation with the CRHA. The CRHA try-out process is managed by the CRHA. The CRHA appointed coaches are tasked with the running and selection of players and teams. Why has CMHA suddenly stepped into a role which they have not historically been involved in? The proposed change negatively impacts the players from the CMHA and CRHA by; 1. Not providing maximum opportunity for all participants. Maximum opportunity is afforded through the CRHA try-out process by providing an equitable opportunity through a structured identification process wherein maximum available ice time is provided for the identification of players demonstrating requisite skills required at all levels of the CRHA and the REP teams and ultimately our MD teams as well. 2. Previous parents complaints in this regard were addressed i.e. in divisions where there exists 3 Representative teams, an MD/Select team and HL players, initial attendance at a AA tryout can and has very well exceeded (4X17) 68 plus HL players. The capacity for a fair and impartial tryout is limited in this scenario (Open Try-Out). 3. Careful and third party (OMHA) consideration is placed before the CRHA executive committee during the coach selection process. An open try-out minimizes the value placed on the development of the player(s) and those coaches selected. 4. The reckless decision by the CMHA to implement an “open try-out” is contrary to the Aims and Objectives of the Constitution and does not safeguard the welfare of the participants. REMEDY 1.Reinstate the CRHA try-out process. 2.Review and weigh the benefits and negative impacts of both the CRHA Try-out process and the “Open Try-out” process. 3.Report findings to the CMHA membership. 4.Place a try-out process to the vote of the membership

The trickle down process needs to be reinstated. It is the best way to determine what level the kids should be playing at as well as form the best matched teams at each level. This should not be a coach popularity contest. This is supposed to be about the kids - and development of their skills and their love of the game.

The current CMHA executive needs to answer for its recent decisions and actions. It is unfortunate that we have to resort to "forcing" an executive to be open and transparent with its decision. Ken Lowe CHRA Member

Bring Back "Trickle Down Tryouts" The Coaches Need to Pick the BEST kids for that Level. Not their Friends!

I hope this could be used to begin a better working relationship between the two groups as we are all members of the same community.

Best for the kids development, and that's what it should be. Kids first, not parents first!

I believe the tickle down process for tryouts best place players in the right level of hockey for both the player and coach. As a result more competitive hockey and wins!!

Total disrespect from CMHA taking over all authority of CRHA tryout process. Stepping in and removing teams and coaches from CRHA tryout process..

There is a lot more issues then just this one. We need to fix the relationship with CMHA and CRHA.

I strongly agree with the Trickle Down try out process and coach selection procedure.

I believe the trickle down process works, and the CMHA should be deferring to the CRHA regarding matters that concern rep hockey in Caledon.

The trickle down process is the fairest solution and will give build the strongest teams at each level.
