We the undersigned find N.O.W.'s 'so-called' Media Wall of Shame a phony and unconvincing attempt to portray their organization as a supporter of the advancement of women's rights and issues in our society. We believe that N.O.W.'s silence in the face of grossly mysogynistic and sexist attacks on Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin during the 2008 election season constitute tacit approval of the tactics used not only by the media, but also by the NOW endorsed candidate and his (emphasis on HIS) supporters. Since NOW President Gandy herself announced that endorsing a candidate by NOW is UNPRECEDENTED we: 1) Demand an explanation why, in the year when this candidate and his supporters engaged in sexist and mysogynistic attacks on both female candidates N.O.W. chose to offer such an UNPRECEDENTED endorsement; and 2) Demand an explanation why such an UNPRECEDENTED endorsement would come during a year when there was a woman candidate on the opposing ticket - i.e., why not other years 3) Demand an explanation why N.O.W. never addressed the sexist remarks and behavior occurring directly in the campaign of their endorsed candidate; 4) Demand an apology to both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin for their tacit approval by virtue of their veritable silence throughtout the election. 5) Demand and apology to all current and former members of NOW who have been forced to witness this organization throw women's advancement and equality of treatment under the bus in favor of a male candidate with NO substantial record of supporting women's issues.
