Honestly, I don't think she should be expelled from GSU because as an American citizen we do have the right of freedom of speech, and you can't just "expell" everyone because you don't like a comment that they have made. BUT, she is a soccer player and therefore representing GSU so she should atleast be removed from the team permanently. And before you ask yes I am an African American female .

As an alumna of this institution I am disgusted and disappointed that someone of such low caliber and moral fiber has been granted the privilege to represent my university. Not only were her remarks distasteful and ignorant, she has also met any critique of her actions with apathy and further willful ignorance. She should not be allowed to represent Georgia State University.

She has to go. If she is not expelled for this behavior it will be a stepping stone for behavior that will grow and fester on the campus. She brought this on herself by being foolish and trying to show off. Well, you were shown the way out. Good riddance.

Agree 100%!!! However, as I look at the context in which it was used. It doesn't appear to me to be in a derogatory way. It seems like it was being used as an exclamation to the general public. Just a note, I absolutely abhor the word in its entirety, no matter the context, but I don't think it was used in a derogatory manner. Granted, I cannot see the entire posting, but from what the image above shows, I absolutely don't think it qualifies as hate speech. "speech which ATTACKS a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or gender". Does it seem like she is attacking anyone, or is she simply excited about passing a test and made an egregious mistake in grammar?

You are absolutely right!! Yes it is free speech which is protected, however hate speech is NOT protected. Now in this society where everything you post on to social media can and will be held against you, just as in a court of law. You are responsible for what you post, you can say what ever you like, just be prepared for the consequences of your speech.

Everyone, take a step back. While her comments are in horrible taste, isn't this free speech since its on a free social media platform that is available to anyone and everyone?...yes. Is anyone being forced to read her comments or posts?...No. Is GSU going to monitor the social activity of EVERY GSU STUDENT and take action, like expulsion, for ALL STUDENTS who mutter ANYTHING that is deemed derogatory by ANY other student?...No. Think about what you are all commenting on and asking for before you put yourselves in the judge's seat. Now....exhale.
