The football players are students who are being excused to play in the bowl. How can you excuse one student , unless you excuse all students! I love the Tigers and will be in Tempe but I feel that college ball has gotten out of control. I like the old bowl system. All students should be treated the same. Maybe CU should have Winter break 1/11-1/12.
I want my son,who is a junior at Clemson, to go with us to Phoenix without worrying about his classes (as well as all other students - including band members, football players, trainers, cheerleaders, mascots, and many more.)
I will be attending the national championship with my father, who was there in '81. It would be greatly appreciated to have excused absences considering this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and the players get to go!
If we win the national championship our university will be awarded far more money, and attention which can assist us in improving our educational direction going into the future. I would much rather help cheer our team than sit through a pointless two days of class. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity as a senior in Clemson, and I can't wait to support them in Arizona!!!
This is the first time since 1981 that we are going UNDEFEATED to the National Championship. if Alabama's able to cancel class, we should be as well so that we can support our team in their once-in-a-lifetime season

As a former alumni of Clemson University, and a current educator, toying with the idea of taking off myself, I believe the students should be excused the day after the National Championship game. It's not guaranteed they'll get another opportunity like this. I was 7 the last time I experienced it.
