There has been some discussion about the ELEC 2607 Winter 2013 final exam and specifically the question in which the students were to implement a BCD. It appears that students are generally displeased with this question on the exam. Students found that this topic was not emphasized in class, did not appear on any mock midterm or actual midterm, did not appear on any assignments, and was not on any of the PASS session handouts. This topic was only mentioned as an EXAMPLE of the "don't care" K-MAP concept. Despite this topic's absence in the course, it was worth 12% (highest valued question) on our exam. This translates to 6% of our final mark which is more weight than all assignments combined. This petition is a kind request to re-evaluate or remove the weight of this question from the final exam in the interest of fairness. As final exams are serious and are official university documents this petition is constructed in complete seriousness and sincerity. Consideration would be much appreciated.

Fix this. It makes no sense to punish us for something that wasn't on our syllabus or practice material.

not cool. if it wasnt on the assignments or midterm it should not have been such a huge chunk of our grade.

12% for something we barely touched? Ridiculous. Please re-evaluate this.

completely blindsided by this. Spent all my time studying the material actually assigned.

That question was totally unfair. We never went over how to implement that stuff in class at all.
