Bryan. It's not just as simple as "putting it outside". If you live in more rural parts of town you have to deal with the local wildlife, raccoons, opossum, bears, mountain lion, skunk , squirrel, fox, coyote.... all of which LIKE meat. Once frozen food meat just slightly thaws it cannot be re-frozen. The outside temp fluctuated between 28-35F and water based meat which is ALL meat freezes at 32F. See where I'm going with this? It's not as easy as "just stick it outside". There are many factors. If Eugene just trimmed all the trees when the weather was nice none of this would have happened. Springfield didn't have this problem... because THEY TRIMMED THE TREES!!!

I was without power for 5 days. Told I was not in priority area. Full freezer and fridge went bad.

I lost a lot of frozen elk and buffalo. Expensive hard to get meats.

Such entitlement. Could understand if this was specifically Ewebs fault. It wasn't. Grow up or move back in with your parents if you can't handle real world situations.

I certainly hope you aren't suggesting that I should have to pay for lost food (by rate increase) because some people weren't thoughtful enough to place their refrigerator contents outside. Isn't it enough that they are paying their employees overtime to get power restored in a timely fashion?

While it is inconvenient that we lost power, and many of us still haven't got it back, the entire world, right now, is a refrigerator. There is, literally, no excuse for your food having gone bad. I didn't lost a single food item to spoilage. Because the temperature has not risen above 38F here since the ice storm. IF EWEB has to recoup $200 000 because they paid everyone who was affected $100 to cover their stupidity taxes, what will that mean for our next rate hike?

$100 is a bare minimum. We have been without power for 4 days and have no updates or information at all.
