I thought this is one of the college's core programs. Why eliminate it as an alternative degreed program? It must bring in some revenue. I wd think you would expand it, not eliminate it!

I have a 2019 graduate of Edward Waters College majoring in elementary education. This is a shame for the institution to allow this to happen. For those who have paved the way for us to go out into the public schools to serve all children from all ethnic backgrounds where would that leave us. To the current students who enroll in the institution who are striving to become efficient educators and to crush dreams is sad.
I pray and hope that the alumni and the current student body the faculty and staff will come together and see that the education apartment is an essential piece for the institution and for the community .

There are too many students who have too much to offer to the children coming up. This program should stay because our current students have too much to offer.

It seems like common sense to need a School of Education at an HBCU. Especially since black children tend to learn better with teachers that look like them. Don’t they have the Call Me MISTER Initiative, giving promising black men funding for the education in exchange to mold our next generations with care and strength? We have to save ourselves, and much of that fight starts in the class. Do the right thing!

The education dept of EWC is responsible for over 85% of teachers in Duval County. I am a product of EWC Education Department. Taught for 44 years and recently retired. DO NOT PHASE OUT THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.

I’m a product of this program and it’ll be heartbreaking to see it go. I’ve learned a lot from the education department and it has gotten me to the position where I am now as a successful professional school counselor.
No on the Ed Dept closure.
