Evaluate Wetland Threatened by Approved Arena Complex at Trent U!

Filling in an unevaluated wetland is unacceptable. Provincial policy clearly lays out procedures for wetland compensation projects, and this project has followed none of them.

Only appropriate to evaluate the affects on the Wetland. This should be done in part because Trent is recognized for their environmental programs that are unique to Trent

yea, lets do at least 3 real ecological assessments of this land prior to development.

The nature areas are what makes Trent University unique. They provide aesthetic, education and research value.

The wetlands should be evaluated before being filled in.

Too many wetlands and other habitats being destroyed so "someone" can make more money. Land and creatures matter more.

Build Trent more parking lots first before an arena! Try actually building something that helps the school and its students. So called school of the environment my eye.

For once don't do it for the money!

No thanks, Trent. Why can't we outsource to other arenas and facilities in the community rather than upsetting wildlife?

Of all the institutions that would propose to destroy a wetland to build a sports complex, I would have thought Trent U. would be about the last. What a disappointment. Hopefully you will see how wrong this is before any damage is done.

After calling Trent home for a number of years, I can honestly say that going forward without a proper evaluation is not only foolhardy but completely against everything the university claims to stand for.

We need to rethink, reassess this project's Environmental Impact.

I strongly support the full assessment and evaluation of this wetland complex, according to the Ontario Wetland System provided by the Ontario Government.

Please consider that this plan will be a detriment to the indigenous people and all people who have enjoyed the sacred land that this arena will pave over. It does not hold a sustainable vision for the future of indigenous land and the Trent campus. It is a complete surprise to me that Trent University, being an "environmentally-focused" institution would even consider to build an arena on top of ceremonial land. Please consider the long-term impact on us and future generations. Please consider that this decision will impact the trust and respect Students, Peterborough citizens and even future students will have with Trent University.
