Increase Luggage Hold Security & Be Aware Of The Difficulties Experience By Visually Impaired Passengers
This is a petition to for Eurolines to increase security of the luggage holds and ensure that all luggage is returned to visually impaired passengers when they are alighting the coach at the destination. It is very difficult to contact Eurolines if you are visually impaired, the website is diificult to navigate and the online web form you fill out does not send you a confirmation email. I am visually impaired and during a recent trip, a bag with vital accessibility equipment in it was stolen from the hold. i am hoping for the return of the items stolen from a Eurolines overnight service coach from London to Dublin on the 12/06/2013. I suspect that the thief was another passenger on the coach and am appealing for the return of the items stolen. I have already contacted Eurolines/National Express and there response was VERY poor. They will not accept responsibility for the loss and they have been evasive and were adament that they would not assist with replacing the items stolen. They have said that it was likely a deliberate act of theft by another passenger and that even though the coach was left unattended whilst other passengers opened the luggage holds, it is not there responsibility. That said if the coach had not been left unattended the theft would not have been possible. I am severely visually impaired and the bag taken contained several items vital to my independence and mobility. Items were all in a small black shoulder bag that was removed from the main luggage hold, i believe whilst the vehicle was unattended by the driver at a service station. The items are a lifeline to me and there theft is causing great hardship. It has decreased my mobility significantly and my ability to communicate has been diminished substantially. To anyone, I would be extremely grateful of assistance spreading the word.
