Exeter University has an essential responsibly to promote ethical standards. Current investments in weapons, tobacco and fossil fuels have a destructive impact on society and the environment which a modern progressive university should remove itself from. As a platform of knowledge and an educator of the youth, I believe Exeter University should actively engage in decisions that support a better future. It is worrying for an institution responsible of educating and forming the citizens of tomorrow to maintain investments in sectors that have proven as deadly as those mentioned above. As a student I find it disgraceful to be associated with the university's choices. I strongly believe that investing in ethical companies is a priority and a necessity to respond to modern global issues. The university should itself insure that its actions promote environmental and social responsible values.

I see some hypocrisy in an istitution promoting sustainable energies and a green future investing in fossil fuels. As engines for the development of revolutionary ideas, universities should promote a different future where nature protection and quality of life are considered more valuable than simplistic economic growth. We demand a revolution in priorities for our university, and I could never consider to reccomend this university if things don't change.

I'm truly disappointed in Exeter as an institution for doing this. I've wanted to come to this university for several years, for the most part because of their ethical and sustainable standards. Ignorance of organisations invested in is not an adequate defense.

Shocked and appalled that the University invests in Arms and fossil fuels. I was under the impression that it was a 'Green' university and was part of the reason I chose to invest in my own future here. If there is no divestment, I would think very seriously about recommending the university to anyone.

As a top UK and global university, we should be setting an example by investing our money in an ethical way and by supporting companies that are not harming this planet and its population. There are many other universities who have taken this step, and Exeter now needs to follow.
