As it stands, recycling bins are scarcely found scattered throughout NYC street corners. The Bronx in particular is a borough in which it might even prove to be difficult to find ordinary NYC trash bins in public areas. Because of this, sidewalks, streets, and even trees can often be seen as littered with garbage, including both recyclable materials (such as glass and plastic bottles) and non-recyclable compost. The purpose of this petition, however, is not only to persuade Bill de Blasio to endorse the establishment of recycling bins throughout the city. It also serves to entice both the current leaders of NYC and the leaders of the future to consider internal improvements that can help us reach our societal goals of sustainability.
