An absolute farce of a situation, a law that dates back to 1961 dictates 2019 Road policy. I am all in favor of security etc, but e scoots are absolutely essential when rent, living is expensive and add car expenses it's way more. I am afraid that we're gonna muck this up and have tax and insurance (unreal fees to follow for sure...) for electric scooters. The RSA is an antiquated and dated organisation who is being entrusted to look at reporting their findings to the minister for transport, knowing them they'll ban all e scooters outright...

My own opinion woud be , if bicycle can go on bicycle lane, why not electric scooter not? And Electric Scooter from 18 age up to 30km max speed and 24 age up to 60km with B category licens and 24 age with full A category license up to 100km . Road tax pay 40euro of each scooter and of you go on bicycle lane. I see , it could be good to use them instead of car around town and no parkings packed up to lip and town more free of cars. That is nice small thing and beautiful to use. Make them registration plates for identifying if anything happen. If there is something nice maid , why people are DISCRIMINATED to not use them because someone make big drama out of small electric scooter! I totally agree with this such a good mechanical thing. I would love to use it as around town. Some women in 40s enjoying them but worried about garda seizing them but they love it. Someone have to make decision right and all that is for people and it's there! Just not young boys who mess that around, let young ones cycle but from 18 age up to 30km , that is bicycle speed. Be modern and luck in to it more detailed and make some directions to legalise them but carefully law must be there and all sorted. Thanks and hope E Scooters be seeing not when garda seizing them but publick use them to enjoy trips with them.

Green energy, no C02, more convenient, much safer.
