Incredible that Ireland is yet again the country that falls behind other EU countries that embrace alternative modes of transportation in order to get people out of their cars. Instead the government worry about those driving diesel cars

this is ridiculas, i use the electric scooter every day, is more easy to trevel in city, and it is not faster then bike, then whay it is illegal?
in many countries in Europe, is legal, and they don't have isurens or tax.
is not a vehicle that pollutes the air, and i think is crezy, I think it's crazy not to be allowed to drive an electric scooter.
Electric scooter can cause great damage?
the same can be said of bicycle, motorcycle,
I see nothing wrong with legalizing this vehicle,
is a new transport model, and I do not think it should be neglected or avoided.
then let's avoid all the innovations and put them illegal, because in the law they are not provided.

This is a ridiculous ban. Why are bicycles not required to have a license, taxes and insurance. Some do not respect the pedestrian paths, they get greater speeds, interfere with traffic and run over pedestrians. I've seen more deadly accidents with people on them than scooters. I also find ridiculous to tax scooters as they are eco-friendly.

It is wrong for the government to restrict electric vehicles, and penalise traditional motorists with carbon taxes.
It is also highly unfair to people without drivers licenses, that they should not be permitted personal transport at reasonable speeds while wearing helmets.

Are we really back in the dark ages. It's a no brainer, legalise and legislate for them. Cyclists go faster and most bikes are heavier.

Under current law my grandmother cannot use s mobility scooter. My cousin with Downs cant use an electric wheelchair. This must be a human rights issue not just road tax and insurance issues.

With hope that the contradictory EUC enforcement can be resolved by somehow given a chance complying to road regulation, making commuting safe & user friendly for all types transportation.

They want to "help" the environment, yet make electric scooters illegal. I think minister for transport needs to wake up and have a law that legalize them... This is 2019, not 1961! shows how much they actually care about the "environment" as always our Irish government have to be backwards and forgot what common sense is ... if they don't profit from it they will make anything illegal.

Escooters are user friendly, environmental friendly and is very convenient to use. They just need discipline on the part of the riders and other road users same with any other mode of transportation.
