It's crazy how SUVs were allowed to proliferate in cities in last few years, but all this effort is going into seizing electric scooters and other electric personal mobility. The former is proven to be deadly. The latter is virtually harmless.

Time to legalize them on road

I really think a speed-limited version of these needs to be legalised. They get people out of cars, they're (relative to cars) good for the environment, they're an advance. If the speed is limited to say 20km/h this would be a good addition to the road vehicles.

How can this country be a part of Europe and operate on law from 1961???!!!

Allow scooters on the roads without tax and insurance!!

Make this less of a grey area in the law, scooters are safe, going no faster than bikes, and take a car off the road. Why is it that the guards are powerless to take dirt bikes and quad bikes off kids harassing people in parks and streets, but when it comes to people commuting to and from work on something small that goes as fast as a cyclist they are getting confiscated. The law needs to be changed, it makes sense, it takes cars off the road and makes the city and country overall less polluted and brings us closer to being a modern country.

This really needs to be sorted ASAP. Given the congestion issues in Dublin this is something that should be embraced as it’s another way to get people out of cars.
