Subject – Revision of Increase of membership fee for availing ERSA Swimming Pool, Kolkata

Dear Sir,

We would like to humbly bring to your notice regarding the announcement of exorbitant hike of membership fee of Eastern Railways Sport Association Swimming pool for General Public.

Sir, as you may be aware general public from across different economical background from the nearby locality including Senior Citizen and promising young swimmers use the pool by registering as member from 2007-08 when the pool was opened by Ex Railways Minister Ms Mamata Bannerjee and it was a welcome gift from her to us and it has generated tremendous response.

But recently the Eastern railway Sport Authority has hiked the fee from April-15 for accessing the pool by Citizen by 2 times higher than the prevailing rate at the time of pool was closed for renovation (1st November,2014) .

Current revised Membership fee is Rs 2,000 per month against earlier Rs 900 per month for using Swimming pool.

This is without ensuring any new addition of facility or major renovation of facility and sir you would agree this fee is very exorbitant for any middle class family to afford it for them or their children.

Our plea to reduce the fee to Eastern Railways has fallen to deaf ear and thus we all, who love this community service by Eastern Rail request you to please reverse this exorbitant hike which is turning this facility an elite facility.

It is thus depriving of lot of promising swimmers to use this facility

We are earnestly requesting you intervention in this matter and please revise the fee and make it affordable this many swimmers can avail this and
