Upon her arrival to Australia in Feb 2010, the profession Naturopath was on the Skilled Migration List (SML), which meant that following her studies she would be eligible for permanent residency.
The SML has since been minimized, resulting in the relevant skill being removed. A Graduate Visa was implemented to allow students affected by the changes an opportunity to work/study full time for 18 months in hopes of finding sponsored work, her only option of an extended stay in Australia.
Erica has graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, which renders her a qualified and insured practitioner under Australian legislation and is a professional member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA).
Despite Erica being a qualified, practicing naturopath, there is a chance a graduate visa will not be granted due to a double standard within the industry in which immigration policy states a bachelors is required to receive a positive skills assessment for naturopathy.
Please sign this petition in hopes of showing the Department of Immigration that Erica Lawrence is deserving of an additional 18 months in the country, where she can continue to contribute to the natural therapies industry, the economy, and the health and wellness of the Australian population.

The wait is heavy and the lack of communication from the department is wearing us thin. I am exhausted by these bureaucratic hurdles but we keep pushing because Erica deserves a fair outcome.

Seeing this kind of backing is humbling when the process feels like hitting a brick wall day after day. I am exhausted by the bureaucracy but I am not stopping now that so many of you have joined the fight.

Erica is amazing at what she does. Why make it so hard for someone who actually wants to work and contribute here?
Total incompetence from the department. She did everything right and followed the path laid out for her. Let her finish what she started.
Erica has worked so hard for this. It is totally unfair to change the rules halfway through her studies. Let her stay!
This whole visa system is a joke. Give her the 18 months she earned.
Ridiculous to move the goalposts like this. She is a qualified professional and deserves a fair go.
