Currently under the Georgia Southern University Student Code of Conduct any student living in on-campus housing may be subject to eviction for any marijuana violation, even in the middle of the semester, while students who violate alcohol policies are not evicted, and are given several chances. Marijuana has been proven to be much safer than alcohol and the university should not punish students more severely for making a safer recreational choice. Students should be able to focus on school while attending GSU not on where they are going to live. Evicting students for maijuana violations is not a sensible way to handle drug issues and is a policy that can not be tolerated! Please sign this petition to equalize the penalties for alcohol and marijuana and help keep students housed and in school.
I have been hearing from so many students who are terrified of losing their housing over this outdated policy. Please keep reading the stories in the comments because they prove exactly why we need to change how the university treats us.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that so many of you have been living in fear of losing your housing over these unfair policies. It is overwhelming to realize that we are finally turning this attention toward a system that treats students like criminals instead of peers.

I know people who got kicked out mid semester for nothing. It makes no sense to punish weed more than actual dangerous drinking.
