I won't be going to Wauconda High School in upcoming years since I'm graduating but I think it would be really awesome to have racks for skaters

Provide an equal oppotu,it for boards the same way you do for bikes.....seems like a simple & cost effective way to solve a problem.

This sounds like a great way to come together and turn this into a positive experience, for everyone.

I think this is brilliant. I love that kids understand that they can be positive in coming up with solutions that will benefit everyone. And my skater would appreciate a special spot to safely store his board.

I formerly lived in Wauconda and went to school there.

I don't see anything wrong with skateboards in the school. Unless they are being used in the school.

Do they have bike racks? If so, they should have a place for skateboards!

Several really great designs have been proposed in the threads on Facebook's Of Wauconda For Wauconda and Wauconda For Wauconda. I'm not really in favor of the tin lockers as they look like they would take up a fair amount of space and are likely more expensive. I am in favor of the more efficiently designed racks noted in the threads above. Great parenting and great ownership of your son's mistake and leadership in his finding and fighting for a feasible solution for all.

Those who ride bicycles & drive vehicles to school don't deserve any more rights than those who use skateboards as a form of transportation to school as well. Good luck!

This is a very easy fix to make all happy. Move skateboards under the section of bicycles and build skate board lockers. If the skating kids are worth a skate park across the street from the HS, which promotes future skaters, then a means to safely hold their expensive equipment at school should be afforded.

Owning your actions, working towards an equitable solution, well done! Remember, the best solutions evolve from respectful dialogue and willingness to compromise. Good luck!

Installing board lockers outside of the school, like a bike rack would be a fantastic idea. It would be an inclusive policy rather then an exclusive one and it would solve the problem many skate boarders have of finding a place to store their board and would still be in accordance with school policies to not bring skate boards into the school.

Appreciate the way you are presenting this. Owning your actions and presenting a resolution. Best of luck.

Glad you recognize that you handled yourself wrong the first time around. Skateboard rack is an awesome idea. Please let me know if the school board denies it as I have some connections and would be able to help you raising the funds. Keep up the positive change
