This is amazing!!! Girls should have equal chance to play in men’s leagues. All the way to the NHL if that’s where they want to be!

My daughter is on the U18 B/BB North Durham Blades. I became aware that the OWHA is only taking the top 4 teams from each division. The boys have all teams participating in the playoffs. This has nothing to do with ice time as we know there is plenty of ice available, especially on the weekend. I have sent an email to the OWHA and Hockey Canada requesting they change the format to the top 8 weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet. The 2 years, many girls aged out and many still playing who will be aging out will miss out on playoff hockey if this doesn't change. There is still time to include the top 8 teams. I'm hoping Bauer can do something. I have posted to Twitter, Facebook and have reached out to many ex-hockey stars to see if they would help, but haven't heard from them either. Really hoping we can do something let these girls have a shot a playing some meaningful hockey. Thank you.

A friend of mine shared this petition with me. It is very fitting as my husband and I have been trying to connect with OWHA to ask why only 4 teams out of our 12 team loop are allowed to participate in playoffs... When all boys teams are allowed to participate in the playoffs. Prior to COVID we all made the playoffs, since COVID the girls program has been ignored. We have not heard anything from OWHA. Unfortunately this may be my daughter's last year of playing a d our season could be done in 2 weeks. The inequality between the boys and girls program is very evident and it just isn't fair!!
