ELFT has a duty to support its staff (including those it chooses to out-source) with decent pay & conditions. There are two added factors - first ELFT's aspiration as an anchor institution and second the risks and toll these members of staff undertook during the pandemic. Pandemic has highlighted wide health inequalities in society and I strongly believe that we as a trust owe an ethical and financial debt to the cleaners and domestic staff who put themselves at risk during the pandemic to keep NHS staff safe without having the benefits and protections that are afforded to NHS staff
