Dear administrators of Korea University,

Our request is simple. We demand that all students be treated equally regardless of nationality.

We demand that all English lecture courses be taught in English. This also includes any other foreign language lecture class offered. Many of these classes now use Korean for their main lecture and only offer course materials in Korean. We feel it is unnecessary to be required to request this. Of course, we international students are eager to learn Korean language and culture, but we came to this university to study our major, and should not be required to know Korean for every single course.

We demand that all information regarding internships and scholarships be provided in English as well as in Korean. If this school does not require Korean courses for the International Studies major, then necessary information should always be offered in both languages. The international admissions office needs to be trained correctly so they do not provide students with false information, as they have done many times.

In order to make this campus international student friendly, clubs also must be more open to allowing foreign participation, despite any kind of language barrier. Therefore, school clubs should not be allowed to deny a student entry based on their language ability, as this has happened to many students already.

저희의 요구는 간단합니다. 학생 모두가 국적에 상관없이 동등하게 여겨 지길 요구합니다.

모든 영어강의는 영어로 진행되는 것을 요구합니다. 물론, 다른 언어로 진행되는 강의도 포함합니다. 외국어로 진행되어야 하는 이런 수업이 주로 한국어로 이루어 지고 있고, 수업자료 마저도 한국어로 제공되고 있습니다. 저희는 불필요한 요구라 생각되어 이렇게 요청합니다. 물론, 저희는 한국의 언어와 문화를 배워야 하는 국제 학생입니다. 하지만 저희는 저희의 전공을 공부하기 위해 고려대학교를 왔고, 모든 수업에서 한국어가 요구되어서는 안됩니다.

인턴쉽과 장학금에 관한 모든 정보는 한국어 뿐만 아니라 영어로도 제공되어야 합니다. 만일, 고려대학교가 국제학부를 위한 한국어 수업을 요구하지 않는다면, 필요한 정보는 한국어와 영어로 항상 제공되어야 합니다. 대학입학처는 올바르게 교육되어야 하며, 잘못된 정보를 학생들에게 제공해서는 안됩니다.

또한, 국제 학생이 언어의 장벽 없이 고려대학교 캠퍼스에 친근해지기 위해서는, 외국인 학생들에게 동아리 활동의 활발한 참여 기회를 주어야 합니다. 그러므로, 학교 동아리는 가입을 희망하는 학생의 언어 능력에 따라 가입의사를 거부 해서는 안됩니다.
