Dear Principle and educators,

My name is Luisa Ferreira, I am a social work student that is trying to make a difference in every child’s educational life.

As principals and educators, I am sure your main concern is that children get the best education you can provide. To do that, you need the resources and means needed for your students, unfortunately, many of you don’t have either one. I ask you to go back in time when you decided to become involved in educating children and how you really felt about it. Most likely, you will remember that all you wanted was to make a difference in children’s lives, and YOU DO, regardless of their socioeconomic status. So please take the time to read a letter I wrote to our Governor, Mark Dayton, to consider making a change for our Minnesota’s children.

With your support, we can make changes. We can make education equal for every child. Please do not turn away from this opportunity to act on what is justice and fair for who could be our future rulers and caregivers. Imagine not giving the right opportunity to a child that could become greater than ourselves. Imagine all the potential we have hindered with the way our educational system is now; could we have had a cure for cancer yet?
