The United States Women's National team is number one in the world their male counterparts are 27th in the world. The WNT is a victim of wage discrimination, They have been discriminated towards for a long time, compared to their male counterparts. The men receive a significant amount more than the females for an identical job. Co- Captain Becky Sauerbrunn did an interview with Elle a female empowerment magazine she says “Our compensation pales in comparison to that of the [Men’s National Team] players given that the women and the men perform the same job duties; have jobs that require equal skills, effort and responsibilities; and perform our jobs under similar working conditions.” As Sauerbrunn stated both teams require the same amount of work, it is equally draining for both team, and even with the success of the women still receive a significant amount less money than their male counterparts.

The WNT is the reigning champion of the 2015 World Cup, they received two million dollars for winning the tournament a total of seven games. Both US national teams play seven games during the course of the tournament, and over 30 games before hand just to qualify. The men receive nine million dollars if they make it to the second round, and $35,000,000 for winning the tournament. ‘The men receive 33 million more dollars for winning the same competition. They also receive more money for just showing up than the women do for winning major competitions. According to the Woman's lawyer Jeffrey Kessler, this is a clear case of wage discrimination’ ( theguardian).

U.S. Soccer should change their pay structure to allow equal pay for both the men’s and women’s team. As seen with the differences in World Cup winnings they receive a significant amount less than the men as shown in the paragraph above, the women are a number one soccer team as where the men are ranked 27th.They have won more championships and games than the men, and are being paid less. Without a doubt the U.S. Soccer Federation and the FIFA Organization should Increase Women's pay, In order to reach equal pay between the two teams.
