We, the undersigned, are Lehigh students who believe strongly in having a president who is committed to environmental and social sustainability at an institutional level and understands the importance of creating a university that:

1) Creates opportunities for sustainability concepts to be integrated into our courses

2) Supports extra-curricular and research opportunities focused on sustainability

3) Champions the cause of environmental and social sustainability through policies, funding and operational process changes

We fall behind peer institutions in this area and seek a president that understands institutions of higher education are crucial to creating a more sustainable world for this and future generations. We urge the Presidential Search Committee to find a president that is deeply committed to environmental and social sustainability and seeks to elevate Lehigh as a leader in this area, both in service of preparing us to be a generation of problem-solvers and for the good of the future.
