I am a resident of Poway and I am opposed to the city council approving the Harmon Ranch Specific Plan on Oak Knoll Rd. The Harmon Ranch Specific Plan would allow the developer to build many more houses, build them closer together and put them on smaller lots than what is currently allowed by Poway’s General Plan and development codes.
Oak Knoll Rd is already one of the densest areas in Poway, and is impacted by traffic and insufficient parking. As none of the houses that Lennar plans to build on Oak Knoll will count toward the state-mandated low and moderate income units that Poway is required to build, we find that there is no reason to increase density on Oak Knoll Rd.
The Harmon Ranch Specific Plan is not consistent with Poway’s General Plan. It is a way for the developer to get around Poway’s development rules, and to change plans after approval without any public notice.

I honestly blinked and realized we hit five hundred signatures which is just wild because I remember sitting at my kitchen table doubting anyone would even care about Oak Knoll Road. It feels like people are finally seeing through the developer loopholes and I am honestly kind of overwhelmed by how many of you stepped up to back this fight.

Stop the density grab by developers. We (Powegians) had been so proud that we had more space to breathe as dictated by our General Plan. You could even tell when you left San Diego and entered Poway. It’s why so many of us are here. Please support us, not the developers.
I would like to see Poway keep larger lot sizes that are consistent with the feel of Poway - the city in the country. That is part of the appeal of living here. I also think that all neighborhoods should have sidewalks on both sides for ADA purposes. Please stick to the general plan.
I oppose the change in the specific plan to allow for more density and the development of the project on Oak Knoll! I’m a longtime Poway resident who owns a home in Oak Knoll. I’ve watched the traffic grow since 1993 and it’s already unbearable.
If builder is not providing any low/moderate income housing, why should they get to build higher density, larger homes than the development plan permits? This higher density just adds to the burden of the infrastructure.
While the plan may meet Poway’s plan to increase housing, it DOES NOT meet Poways General Plan. It is too much pressure put on schools, streets, infrastructure and resources for the community. This Council keeps adding head count while easily giving up open space or adding parks and recreation areas.
Life Time Fitness needs to find a commercial site not a residential site
STOP this incessant building!!! This is just a town! not the Bronx!

This plan is way out of line with what the citizens and your constituents want, this specific project is inconsistent with the community, crammed in with one ingress/egress and virtually NO open space, this developer has shown themselves to be dishonest (e.g. “The Farm”).
